Dr. Christian Augustin, D.C
Doctor of Chiropractic
Hi everyone. My name is Christian Augustin and I was born in Ontario, Canada. I have been a chiropractor for 13 years. I spent time in Atlanta, where I met my wife, Heather and began a family. I graduated summa cum laude from Logan College in Chesterfield, Missouri in 1999 with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. After graduation we moved our family to Colorado Springs, Colorado or God's country where I set up practice.
After several years in Colorado, my wife longed to be closer to her family. Like any good husband, I sold my practice, and moved the family down south where Heather is originally from. It has been a joy to see her reunite with her brothers and sisters and now we have much more family involvement as they are closer and it is easier for them to visit. Having the beach a few miles away certainly doesn't hurt!
The Eastern Shore, also God's country, provides a great place to raise a family, and enjoy life, whether you like fishing, riding a bike , watching your kids play sports or just taking a walk down by the bay. Heather and I are avid bike riders and you will often see us pedaling around town trying to keep in shape. I also enjoy coaching soccer which I have been involved with for several years. For all who know me as coach Christian, I am working on lowering the decibels of my coaching voice. I was just making sure your kids were paying attention!
On a more serious note, I would like to explain my philosophy when it comes to the treatment of the human body. I always believe one should use a conservative, non-invasive treatment when possible and prudent. This limits unwanted side effects and usually decreases the costs of treatment. It is not always prudent, possible, and wise to use conservative care. Aggressive infections, cancer, life threatening illness, and serious injuries always need invasive therapy and if uncovered in this office will always result in an immediate referral to the appropriate medical specialist, the ER, or 911 if necessary.
Most injuries are not life threatening and in many cases respond well to conservative care with very few side effects. In Colorado I treated a variety of injuries and conditions stemming from sports, motor vehicle accidents, repetitive use and old age. Just to list a few, I would include back pain, shoulder pain, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, bursitis, golfer's elbow, tennis elbow, tension headaches, migraines, carpal tunnel and many more. Treatments provided included laser therapy, spinal manipulation, extremity adjusting, physical therapy and modalities, taping and more.
I am very excited to also introduce Class IV Low Level Laser therapy as an option. This therapy was given FDA approval for pain management in 2005 and has been shown to have significant effects on healing. It is so popular that professional sports teams and Olympic teams have started using them routinely on their athletes. The laser that I will feature in my office is used by the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers and now the Auburn Tigers. Please call and ask to speak to me directly if you would like to learn more about laser therapy. Remember it is for healing, and even though it works extremely well for sports injuries, that is only the tip of the iceberg.
